I was extremely excited and honoured to be invited by NBA champ Trevor Ariza to his 2nd annual AEGA Celebrity basketball game at the Taft high school in Los Angeles. Aries created a youth centric non profit organisation to honour young student athletes while at the same time giving back to his home city of Los Angeles. A hoard of celebs came through to support, celebrate and also to participate in the game. The teams were split Ariza vs Hamilton (Kenny Hamilton). There were a lot of big talkers and whilst some stayed coy, confidence was not an issue for actor and comedian Lamorne Morris. Morris who is one of the stars of the hit FOX show “New Girl” playing the character ‘Winston’ was not shy about talking about his skills. Morris made his TV debut with his own show ‘HotWyred’ on the BET network and has gone on to feature in many more top rated shows, he is well known for his many comedic skits such as ‘The Package’ , segments for 106 & Park and recently starred in the new Barbershop 3 movie.
I got the actor and comedian to open a little bit, he spoke of the current cultural disturbances amidst the numerous reports of police brutality. He was extremely candid about how important organisations such as the ‘Ariza elevated game awards’ and the AEGA celebrity basketball game are to the youth in todays society. He also shared how being a part of such a hit show like ‘New Girl’ has impacted his life and the changes that came with the big TV break. He even let some secrets slip regarding his current relationship status.
